Roy Westran

In 1967, the year he was named president of Citizens, Roy Westran became president of the national CPCU Society and traveled around the country speaking about the importance of insurance education and professionalism. He was a champion for education and strongly believed in the value of hard work, which he exemplified while serving as former board chairman of Accident Fund and as a longtime industry mentor and community leader.

Though Mr. Westran retired in 1989, it remains a mystery to most people how he could have invested so much energy in his professional career while still having so much left for his community. The high standards of excellence that he motivated in others throughout his career and in retirement are as much of an inspiration today as they were then.

The Westran Insurance Scholarship Foundation was established in 1990 in his honor. Mr. Westran passed away in 2006, and his son, Tom Westran, has taken his place on the Foundation’s board.

The once-a-year golf outing is the only fundraising event for these scholarships. Your sponsorship or participation will help deserving students pursue insurance-related education.
